In this session, we will dive into the world of synthesis, focusing on the basics of how algorithms are used to generate sound. Together with me, Ruben Feldman, you will collaborate to make a song for the ages out of free online synth emulations. Make sure to bring a creative mindset and a functioning computer (for those of you with older computers, I would suggest joining the zoom session on another device like a phone or tablet).
Presenter Bio: Ruben is a Senior at Camden Hills Regional High School. His passions include music production, singing, drumming, theater, video games, and general nerdiness. When he isn’t staring at a computer, Ruben spends his time reading or taking walks with friends. He is excited to attend college at UMass Lowell next year, and can’t wait to see what the future has in store.

In this session, we’ll look at Bloxels, an app that allows you to quickly create video games. This is your chance to create something that you learned about this school year that you could demonstrate through an engaging video game. Could you explain the water cycle with a bouncing water droplet? Could you show how the United States grew from 13 colonies to 50 states? Could you retell a popular fairy tale with a new twist? Let’s take what we have learned and share it with others in the most amazing and interactive way possible!
Jon Graham is the Elementary Digital Learning Specialist at the Maine DOE and is part of the MLTI Team. He has been participating in the MLTI Conference since 2011 (you should see his collection of t-shirts!).
